It is a pleasure to introduce you to the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law Graduate Tax and Estate Planning Programs. We are extremely proud of these programs, especially the introduction of our new tax clinic, which was established in August 1999. Now students can gain invaluable practical experience representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and the Tax Court of the United States.

For those students who desire to concentrate only in the estate planning field, the UMKC School of Law launched a new LL.M. (General, with Estate Planning Emphasis) in December, 1999. We are very excited about this new graduate estate planning program and are committed to developing a first rate program for students desiring to specialize in this area.

Our broad based curriculum is designed to provide the student with: (a) an in-depth knowledge of taxation and/or estate planning, (b) excellent research skills and (c) the development of the necessary practical skills to become outstanding tax and/or estate planning lawyers.

We believe the cost incurred by students in our Graduate Tax and Estate Planning programs to be among the lowest in the nation. Our tuition cost for in-state students is relatively modest. Although out-of-state tuition is expensive, most of our out-of-state students receive a scholarship to pay for this extra cost. Additional financial resources in the form of merit scholarships, research assistantships and low-cost loans also are available.

Finally, Kansas City is a fantastic place to live. You will enjoy your time here and I predict that you will not want to leave. We appreciate your interest in our program and hope that you will apply for admission.
