Transferring From UMKC To Another Law School
Since the process may vary somewhat from one law school to the next, students should make careful inquiry to learn the transfer
requirements of other law schools. Generally, a student who intends to transfer elsewhere must submit a written request to the
Associate Dean indicating: - That the student is interested in "transferring" to another law school
- The complete
name and mailing address of the law school to which the student intends to transfer
- A detailed list of the items which
must be provided to the new law school by UMKC: 'letter of good standing,' transcript , LSDAS (LSAT) report, etc.
The student
will receive a copy of the letter of good standing when it is sent. If requested by the new law school, the letter will
disclose both academic deficiencies and honor code violations. If the student does not receive a copy of the Associate Dean's
letter within a week's time, the student should contact Carol Pegues in the Administrative Center to determine whether the
letter has been sent, and if not, why.
A student accepted at another law school must provide written notification to
Carol Pegues that she will be transferring permanently to another institution and fill out the Law School's
"drop" form.
Additionally, the student must completely withdraw, either in person at the Administrative Center or by
using the telephone registration system, from any UMKC courses for which the student has already enrolled for the coming
semester.
Students should be aware that scholarships, grants, awards, etc., awarded by UMKC will not
transfer to the student's new school.
