Edward D. Ellison (1869-1956)

  Edward D. Ellison was born 1869 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated in the 1888 class of Central H.S. and then attended Princeton University, graduating in 1892. When he returned to Kansas City he studied law at C.O. Tichenor's office until admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1893. Later he practiced law with J.C. Rieger, and formed the partnership Ellison & Turpin. He was a founder of the Kansas City School of Law and served as treasurer. Over his career he taught Constitutional Law, Commercial Paper, Criminal Law, Common Law Pleading, Statutory Rights and Remedies. In 1909 he succeeded Dean Borland as Dean of the law school. He served as president of the Kansas City Bar Association from 1911-1912.
