AALS MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATION, PURSUANT TO §
6 - 4(b)
In
accordance with Section 6 - 4(b) of the Bylaws of the Association of American
Law Schools, the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law is committed
to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all its students and
graduates, commensurate with their abilities and not limited by invidious
discrimination, including discrimination based on race, sex, age, religion,
color, national origin, handicap, disability, sexual orientation, or any basis
forbidden by applicable law or university regulation.
MILITARY RECRUITMENT POLICY
The
University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law is committed to the policy
against discrimination based on race, sex, age, religion, color, national
origin, handicap, disability, sexual orientation, or any basis forbidden by
applicable law or university regulation.
The
military’s hiring practices are inconsistent with the School’s
non-discrimination policy and the AALS bylaws. Because Congress enacted the
Solomon Amendment, which cuts off several types of federal funds to schools
denying access to military recruiters, the Law School allows military
recruitment on Campus. However, the Law School remains committed to the policy
of non-discrimination. We will take steps to ameliorate the adverse effect of
any on-campus interviewing by military recruiters and provide all of our
students with a hospitable environment in which to apply and interview for
positions.
