In Westlaw, citation analysis . . .  uses flags to signal how the case has been subsequently treated:   No longer good law for one or more legal points.   Some negative treatment.   Citing cases, but no negative cases.   Case has some history.   Indicates levels of treatment of primary case (four stars is the highest) Indicate that the citing document has quoted the primary case must also be considered within the context of time (or the pedigree of judicial precedent): Flags in normal case-viewing mode note the status of the primary case Flags in KC History tab or KC Citing Ref. tab note the status of subsequent citing cases Flags in Table of Authorities tab can be used to check the case authority upon which a primary case relies   may be limited by  headnote (Westlaw Topic and Key Number) by additional terms (Locate Query) by jurisdiction or court by date to certain kinds of documents (cases, secondary sources, or administrative materials) by level of treatment    may be continuously rechecked using the KeyCite Alert service
