LAW LIBRARY LOCATION OF COMMITTEE HEARINGS

Committee hearings are located in the Federal documents collection in the basement [Y4]. (Due to the voluminous content of some appropriations committee hearings, these documents are not available on paper and are only available on microfiche in the microforms room.)

A good source for locating and identifying committee hearings is the CIS US Congressional Committee Hearings Index. This source consists of several parts and is located in the reference alcove under the classification number, KF40 .C56. The various subparts of this source are as follows:

Part I, 23rd Congress-64th Congress, Dec. 1833-March 1917
Part II, 65th-68th Congress, Apr. 1917-Mar. 1925
Part III, 69th-73rd Congress, Dec.1925-1934
Part VIII, 89th-91st Congress, 1965-1969

The indexes for the years 1935-1964 may be found in the Government Documents Library [015.73 C497].

Fortunately, the above indexes can also be consulted online at the Congressional Unvierse site linked off of the Law Library's Home Page. Click on 'Cong. Indexes, 1792-1972,' and then click on 'Witness.'
