ON-LINE LOCATION OF COMMITTEE HEARINGS

CONGRESSIONAL UNIVERSE

This source contains written, submitted testimony for almost all congressional hearings from 1993 forward. There are also transcripts of select hearings. Coverage from 1988 to 1993 is less comprehensive. (In addition, the database contains abstracts of committee hearings. To find these abstracts, do a keyword search of the CIS Index (also part of Congressional Universe) and look for document results grouped under 'hearings.') [Congressional Universe is accessible from the law library's home page under ‘Online Subscriptions.' Once there, click on the subject heading ‘Testimony.']

GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE

Click on ‘Congressional Hearings'. This source has committee hearings from the 105th Congress (1997) forward.

THOMAS (Legislative Information on the Internet)

Click on ‘House Committees' and then click on 'Hearing Transcripts'. This source has transcripts from select committee hearings for the House of Representatives (listed by date) starting from the 105th Congress (1997).

LEXIS and WESTLAW

Law students and faculty with access to Lexis and Westlaw may locate transcripts of committee hearings through Lexis (Library: LEGIS / File: CNGTST for select written testimony, July 28, 1993 to the present, and Library: LEGIS / File: POLTRN for select transcripts of oral testimony beginning in 1995) and Westlaw (Database: USTESTIMONY or CONGTMY with coverage from July 19, 1995 to the present).
