Student Information
The Kansas City Tax Clinic (Tax Clinic, Course Number 8834R, 2 to 4 hours of graded credit) is a
clinical program in which
students counsel clients in federal, state and local tax controversy matters under the supervision and direction of the Clinic
Directors. There is also a classroom component in the areas of tax controversy
procedure and client counseling.
In the Kansas City Tax Clinic, students will gain valuable experience with interviewing clients, documenting files, developing
facts, researching resolutions in real-live sceneries, and interacting with
government agencies.
Enrollment is by selection. Permission to enroll must be obtained from Clinic Directors Dale Kensigner and/or Frank Schuler. Participating
students must have taken Federal Taxation before enrolling in the Clinic.
Participation requires a commitment of a minimum of 85 hours for 2 credit hours. This
includes a 9 to 10 hour orientation and the academic
class sessions.
